Ellen De Generes and me: gay pride

There’s so much to love about Elllen De Generes.  From her good looks, amazing talents and winning personality to her generous spirit, passion for making a difference and supporting advocacy efforts for rescued dogs.  Just like me.

But the striking similarities don’t just end there. We are both gay and we make no bone about it.  There I said it!

In doggie world, life is really not that complicated at all.  You eat, sleep, play and love unconditionally, which is our doggie way of helping to make a meaningful difference.  We also live by the motto: live and let live and love the one you’re with.  This is why I’m eager to bring joy to anyone I meet regardless of gender and help end the horrors of abuse, exploitation and homelessness faced daily by millions of dogs through the wonderful ‘Fur-ever Friends: until no dog is left behind’ campaign organized by One Spirit, One World (
www.onespiritoneworld.org).

Seriously, I have a novel doggie idea.  In the spirit of focusing on what really matters – Ellen’s generosity of spirit - let’s not call one of my favorite dog heroes, Ellen De Generes.  Let’s do her justice by simply calling her Ellen The Generous.

Digg this…

From a humble doggie perspective, if somebody throws you a lifeline, why should you care about the person’s skin color, race or gender, right?  Likewise, shouldn’t you apply the same logic to love too?   And if love is color blind, shouldn’t it also be gender blind?

Until our paths cross again my pawmazing friends! Woof woof!

A SPECIAL SUMMER TREAT

6/3/2014

Hello My Pawsome Peeps!

I have been very busy with my adventures in Hollywoof in efforts to spread awareness about my campaign, but I wanted to deliver some more thoughts from my pawspective!

As many of us know, it’s almost summertime and school is about to commence. A lot of you have children that are getting restless as the summer vacation approaches, and some of you might even be the very students graduating from junior high, high school, and college, whatever it may be!  What better way to end the school year than to really help out a paw in need?  A lot of my friends want to have the same fun you will have this summer vacation.  And you can make that happen!  Whether it’s volunteering at a shelter or an adoption event, or even adopting a pooch yourself, you will be able to contribute to my greatest passion, helping out my paw siblings who just want to find their fur-ever home!

You may already know that I was a rescue pooch myself.  Since then all I can say is that even just one person can really make a difference in a dog’s life.  My ‘mom’ sure did! I am fur-ever grateful and have not been the same dog I was before, and that’s a good thing!

So what are you waiting for?  Join my campaign, “Fur-ever Friends: until no dog is left behind,” and start contributing to helping my loving furry friends find a loving and fur-ever home today! While you’re at it, adopt one too!

You and/or your kids will have the greatest summer vacation and a wonderful life together!

Until we meet again my pawmazing friends! Woof woof!

My Adventure On the Red Carpet in Hollywoof

5/28/2014

How many of us long to hear the words “Listen up dawg! You’re going to Hollywood!”

Yep!  I’m that lucky dawg who got invited to attend a special Red Carpet event in the luxurious W Hotel in Hollywoof recently and not as the next American Dog Idol.  Let me tell you. It was nothing short of pawmazing.

I got to do what I love best – dazzling people with my unusual looks, special tricks and funny stories while helping to make a difference in an entertaining yet informative way.  I even got a taste of what it’s like to be subjected to the pawpawrazzi who shamelessly demanded that I constantly pose for them.  And I didn’t mind being “eaten alive” by such celebrities as Roseanne Barr.  But hey, it’s all for a good cause, right?

There is no bone about it.   Attending Red Carpet events can be a lot of tail-wagging fun. It’s hard to ignore the pool of beautiful people all in one place.  Some with an “I’m God’s greatest gift to the world” attitude while others like me who are happy with an “attitude of gratitude.”

The way I see it, while it was fun to be treated like a rock star and have celebrities asking to take pictures with me, for me it was less about glitz and glamour or digging up dirt and more about leveraging the star power of celebrities to help me bring more attention to my campaign of hope “Fur-ever Friends: until no dog is left behind” and turn the dreams of millions of homeless and abused dogs for a fur-ever home into a reality.

As a rescued dog myself, I can honestly tell you that dogs don’t care about being a celebrity on a red carpet or how fancy is their home or food.  They just want to find a fur-ever home with any kind of carpet and share the simple pleasures together.

It was so great to see how everyone I met shared my passion for ending dog homelessness and horrific abuse.  Now, let me ask you what I ask the attending guests:

1. Do you believe a friend in need is a friend indeed?

2. Do you believe man’s best friend and the best teacher of true love deserves a minute out of your time to help save his/her life?

3. Do you believe you have the power to help make a difference?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all three questions like they did, then please take a moment right now to support my life-saving campaign of hope by simply visiting www.onespiritoneworld.org.

Chew on this…

The more you “Like” me on my Facebook page and follow me on Twitter, the more animals I’ll be able to help win.  It’s that simple!

My goal is to leave my pawprints on a million hearts.  Will you help me?

Finally, you don’t have to be a celebrity or attend a Red Carpet event in Hollywoof to make the pawfect impact.  All you need is a willing heart to become a pet hero.  So, wait no more. Go fetch and rescue a wonderful miracle with paws who is still waiting and hoping to escape the horrors of a death sentence right now and start experiencing something so spawctacular you never even knew existed.

Thank you for sharing a few stolen moments and a glimpse into my world where I live by the motto ‘expect the unexpected, and dream like you’ll live forever, but live like you’ll die tomorrow.’

OK, gotta get ready for another Red Carpet event but this time with Justin Bieber.  Oh, boy…

Woof, Woof and remember to release your inner lion!

As many dog lovers have no doubt discovered, one of the great benefits of having a dog is being able to gain fresh perspectives on life.  It’s like borrowing another set of eyes, enabling you to make pawsitive choices to live a life with meaning, real joy and fulfillment.

As a lover of life, I’m also a lover of wisdom.  Why should you care?  It’s like living consciously with high levels of awareness, but on steroids.  In doggie terms, it’s the difference between walking on a tight leash and/or without a leash.   While one is restrictive and overpowering the other is liberating and empowering.   Imagine that!  Don’t you want to see what it’s like to unleash unlimited power to achieve both success and greatness?

My ‘mom’ thinks that we now live in extraordinary times that demand extraordinary solutions and visions.   She is convinced that the answer to many of the problems experienced by humans can actually come from the most unexpected places – dogs!  Why you ask?

In part, because as dogs we have unique qualities and extra senses that enable us to “see” and “hear” things beyond the surface level and know the difference between what’s real and important in life and what’s not, and in part because we live by a set of very uncomplicated rules which makes our lives, well, uncomplicated.

Before you think I’m here to replace Yoda, I wanna remind you that I’m just an ordinary little dog (well, not according to my ‘mom’ and my fans) with a big heart who really cares about the world and finds it very rewarding to inspire people to achieve extraordinary things with my fresh dog-inspired insights.  So, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride…or shall we say, the long walk together.

Spending so much time with my human family, I’ve become a keen observant of life in the human world.  But like Mr. Spock from Star Trek I sometimes struggle to figure out the logic behind the actions of some humans, which lead to so much needless unhappiness.   Believe it or not, sometimes all we need to live life to its fullest is two things - clarity and simplicity.

Everyday I meet more and more people who are always racing against time in their quest to “get there,” only to discover that there is no “there” there.  It’s true.  Life is not a destination or a race; it’s simply a journey.  And so, people often lose sight of what’s really important in life, especially the simple pleasures.

Because loving comes as natural to us dogs as breathing, we know that love has its own rewards.  Therefore, we feel it’s the only goal worth pursuing.  Think about it.  What good does it do if you have all the toys in the world but no one to play with? Besides our lives come in a limited edition.

So, ask yourself this question:  Are you working to live or living to work?  The answer to this question will help you prioritize your goals in life.

Chew on this…

  • Remember what’s really important in your pursuit for life, liberty and happiness.
  • A “more is better” mind-set is overrated except when it comes to love and making a difference.
  • Love and simple pleasures have their own rewards.
  • Just be good and do good and the rest will surely follow!

Thanks again for visiting and may your pooch inspire you to become a force for good.
OK, gotta run now.  I have a world to save and still be cool for my fans.

P.S.
Remember to be the person your dog thinks you are. Make a difference!

“Dogs. Absolutely an unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. . . . He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. . . . When all other friends desert, he remains."          - George G Vest
